I want my song to be used by Disney, says Lami Philips

Lami Phillips, who was recently signed to Alter Plate Records owned by Harrysong, has revealed how she dreamed that her first song would be used as one of Disney’s theme songs.

The Neo-Soul/Afro-pop singer, stage and screen actor said:

“My first love was music. I wrote my first song when I was eight years old and all my siblings can still sing the song.

“I planned on sending it to Disney. Years later, I realized that reality can rob you of your ability to create and dream big so when you want to make magic you’ve gotta close your eyes and go back to that place where everything and anything is possible.

There’s a lot of noise and a lotta opinions. Be you, never lose your voice! Even as an actor, it’s up to you to interpret that character. I know mediocrity is celebrated, surround yourself with directors that will bring out the best in you. Don’t settle for less.”

Currently working on a soon-to-be released documentary on Lami’s journey to her sophomore album, ‘Pieces of Love’ and personal stories is work in progress; a glimpse into who Lami is, and what her music stands for.

Also her initiative ‘Be The Change’, is a charity that is focused on helping children and the less fortunate.

Married for over a decade, Lami Phillips released her debut album, Intuition, in 2009 featuring M.I.
