Buhari’s aide escapes assassination attempt in Kano



President Buhari’s aide, Alhaji Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, reportedly escaped an assassination attempt in Kano State while addressing over 3000 All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters, who had gathered for the direct governorship primaries of the party in the state.

It was gathered that President Buhari’s aide, who is a Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives), is also a senatorial aspirant for Kano South senatorial district. He had also raised the alarm over threat to his life by agents of his political opponent, Senator Kabiru Gaya.

Alhaji Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila who revealed the assassination attempt during an emergency press briefing held at NUJ Kano Press Centre yesterday, said that a former Chairman of Sumaila Local Government Area (LGA) and campaign Director of Senator Kabiru Gaya, Alhaji Abdulhamid Idris Rimi, led a group of unknown persons who stormed Sumaila ward and attempted to attack him.




According to him, eight armed unknown men approached him at the All Progressive Congress (APC)’s Sumaila ward office where the party primaries was taking place and tried to attack him with dangerous weapons. He concluded his statement by revealing that the police later arrested two of the suspects, including Senator Kabiru Gaya’s campaign Director who are currently at Sumaila police station.
