Akwa Ibom State University Charges N10,500 For Post-UTME Screening

Candidates applying for admission into Akwa Ibom State University are to pay 10,500 as PUTME Screening Fees for the 2017/2018 Admission year.

A social media user who is seeking admission after scoring 260 in the JAMB UME (exams) shared his invoice for the amount to be paid.

Other users were left in shock and disbelieved as one wondered if “person no go go school again”.

It can be recalled that the Federal Government in 2016 fixed the screening fees at N2,500 but schools have been defying the directives for instance Delta State University who were the first for the 2017/2018 session to peg the fee at N5,000.

The method to circumvent the directives as seen on the invoice is to charge the “Screening Exercise Fees” at FG approved N2,500, then charge N7,500 as Admin charges.

Akwa Ibom State University may be the only public university with the highest Post UTME screening fee at N10,500 and it is really sad considering that the State receives the highest allocation from the Federal Government and it is really lacking in human capacity building and government functions are carried out by Consultants engaged from outside the State.
