Nigerian brothers arrested in Jussie Smollett attack released

The Nigerian brothers who were arrested in Jussie Smollett attack released, have been released without charges.

Earlier this week, two men were arrested in connection with the reported attack of “Empire” star Jussie Smollett that occurred in Chicago last month, as TMZ and The Associated Press reported.

Now, according to reports by CNN and Variety, as well as a statement by Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, the two men have been released from police custody without charging due to “new evidence” that arose during questioning. Guglielmi said:

“Due to new evidence as a result of today’s interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete.”

We earlier reported that latest development on the Jussie Smollett case appears to insinuate that the Empire actor staged the attack he claimed to have suffered in the hands of two men.

Information about the interrogation are beginning to leak with Rob Elgas of ABC 7 giving snippets of it on Twitter.

According to the information Rob Elgas shared, one of the two men getting questioned by the police has appeared on the Empire series movie before alongside Jussie Smollet.

This new development leads to speculations that Jussie Smollet may have staged the attack.
