Leave Lagos or get burnt, Lagos CP tells criminals

Lagos Police Commissioner Zubairu Muazu has warned criminals to leave the state or face the wrath of the law.

Muazu also warned political thugs and others planning to cause mayhem in the state to turn a new leave, insisting his team would deal decisively, with anyone caught.

He spoke Friday evening with reporters after assuming duty as the 35th Police Commissioner in the state.

Although his predecessor Imohimi Edgal was absent at the event, Muazu commended his strides in reducing crime in Lagos, assuring that he would sustain his legacy.

On preparedness for the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Mega rally tomorrow, Muazu said all strategies have been concluded.

He said he already held a meeting with the Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers for peace and security during the rally.

“As we all know the APC presidential rally is going to hold Saturday. I have had fruitful deliberations with all principal staff officers of the command.

“My directive to them is simple, adequate security and anyone who reneges on this will have himself to blame.

“We are going to consolidate on the security structure put in place by the outgone Commissioner of Police. He is the only one that is posted out of Lagos, all his operatives are still on ground. I will work with them to see that we win the war on crime and criminality

“I am warning criminals to stay away from Lagos or turn a new leaf as we are ready for them.  Like I said, I have just finished security meeting with senior police officers.

“We have mapped out strategies to deal with the issue of crimes. I am serious about it. We also talked on corruption. We have zero tolerance for corruption.”

The police chief added: “We are fully prepared for the president’s visit. There is no cause for alarm everyone should go about their normal businesses as we will leave up to our mandate of protecting lives and property.”
