Facebook to show Ronaldo’s Juventus debut for free

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus debut is set to be shown live on Facebook for FREE to all football lovers across the globe.

This comes after a historic partnership between Eleven Sports and the Italian Serie A and Spanish La Liga.

Following the deal, Eleven Sports are planning to show at least one Italian and Spanish top-flight game per week for absolutely nothing – and their first trick will be to show former Real Madrid star Ronaldo’s first game for the Old Lady against Chievo.

The game, Ronaldo’s first in his Italian adventure after his £88 move from Real Madrid, will take place on Saturday, August 18 and will be shown on Eleven Sports’ UK Facebook page.

As well as Juve’s new £99million man hitting the free-to-air Facebook channel, there will be two other games in the opening weekend – Girona vs Valladolid and Valencia vs Atletico Madrid.

In the second weekend, Valladolid vs Barcelona and Inter Milan vs Torino are games to hit the computer monitors courtesy of Eleven Sports.

Speaking on the deal, Danny Menken, group managing director of Eleven Sports, said:

“In all our global markets we want to be where the fans are.

“We aim to serve fan communities and develop interaction and engagement around our content, while ensuring we are always accessible and easy to reach.

“Our unique free-to-air partnership with Facebook helps us to do this as part of our fresh and contemporary approach to distribution.”
