Meghan Markle to cheer Serena Williams at Wimbledon final

Meghan Markle is going the to cheer Serena Williams from the Royal Box during Saturday’s Wimbledon final.

Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan will be in attendance at Wimbledon on Saturday, July 14, to cheer on the Suits alum’s friend Serena Williams.

Kensington Palace announced in a press release on Thursday, July 12, that the royals are set to stop by the women’s singles final, where they will speak with several former champions about their experiences competing in the tournament.

The Duchess of Cambridge will return on Sunday, July 15, with husband Prince William for the men’s singles final. She hasn’t attended Wimbledon yet this year as she has been on maternity leave since the April 23 birth of their son Prince Louis.

But when it comes to tennis royalty, there will be only one queen on court.

“If there was a Wimbledon royalty, I would like to believe I would be Wimbledon royalty because I’ve done pretty well here in the past,” Williams told reporters on Thursday.

The tennis great made the remark as she stood one win away from winning an eighth Wimbledon title.

If she does end up being crowned champion for an eighth time, the American will win a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam title – drawing level with Australian great Margaret Court’s haul.

That really will make her queen bee, since no man or woman has won more singles Grand Slam titles.
