Drake net worth: How it was built

Aubrey Drake Graham, better known as Drake, is one of the world’s richest rappers. The Canadian-born hip-hop artist was born on October 24, 1986, in Toronto, Ontario to African American and a practicing Catholic father, Dennis Graham, from Memphis, Tennessee.

Drake’s mother is Sandi Graham (née Sher). She is a white Jewish Canadian who worked as an English teacher and florist.

However, Drake’s parents divorced when he was five years old. After the divorce, he and his mother remained in Toronto, while his father chose to return to Memphis in order to find a way to supplement himself financially.

Aubrey Drake Graham built his net worth, amassed his wealth through multiplatinum recordings, high-grossing tours and lucrative, major endorsement deals.

Drake vowed to bank $25 million by age 25 — and did. In his song “Western Road Flows,” Drake says he plans to retire by age 35 and that it’s already funded.

The Canadian artist ranks fifth on 2017’s Forbes Five – Forbes’  annual list of the world’s wealthiest hip-hop artists. At just 30 years of age, Drake is young enough to be the son of any of his fellow list members – well-known rhymers like Diddy and Jay Z.

Adding to Drake net worth is money Drake earned from various sources:

$14 million from sales of albums,
$12.6 million from singles sales
$24 million from YouTube
an estimated $36 million from endorsement deals with big name companies like Jordan, Sprite and Kodak.

It is estimated that the endorsement deals have added an average of $5 million a year to Drake’s net worth since 2010. That’s a reported total of $36 million dumped into Drake net worth total by 2017.
